This is a response to the story sent by Martha A. Churchill about the jail sentence of Cincinnati lawyer Doris Houser Allen, whose false affidavit wrongly imprisoned an innocent man. The story was accurate but incomplete. Doris Houser Allen prepared a false sworn statement, but a second woman also violated the man's rights in this case: Sylvia Huff, Allen's client. Huff knowingly provided the information for the false statement. Later when confronted, Huff portrayed herself as a victim, although earlier she had admitted that she lied in a sworn affidavit that her boyfriend, Dwayne Harris, abused her and her children. A third woman, Melanie Reising, an assistant city prosecutor, chose not to file charges against Huff. It is proper that Allen spend time in jail and lose her law license. It is also proper that Huff be punished for her perjury, which caused an innocent man to be imprisoned. It is also proper that prosecutor Reising prosecute Ms. Huff for falsification. When will assistant city prosecutor, Melanie Reising, sworn to uphold the law, finally prosecute Sylvia Huff for filing a false affidavit? That Huff lied under oath isn't questioned even by her. What she did next is a classic gambit of the self-anointed "victimized woman." She said she was the victim. She diverted attention from the true victim, the man, to the false victim -- herself. Keep your eye on the bouncing ball. The man was the victim of two women (three, if you count assistant city prosecutor Reising). Allen's and Huff's lies put Harris in jail. Huff then proclaimed that she was the victim by saying that her lawyer, Allen, misled her into lying. Do you see how easy it is to divert attention from the real victim? After lying and recanting her lie, Huff overshadowed the man's false imprisonment by proclaiming victimhood. In reality, Huff and Allen were co-antagonists against Harris. Note that Sylvia Huff's language is that of the self-defined woman-victim. "I want the court to know the great pain she (Allen) has caused me," Ms. Huff told the judge. "I can understand an honest mistake, but not once did I see any remorse. Not once did I get an apology." Can you imagine the gall of this woman talking about pain and expecting an apology? Huff admitted lying in a sworn statement. Her lies wrongly put a man in jail. She showed no remorse. Huff is no victim. She is a miscreant who admitted lying under oath. She hurt an innocent man. Right before Huff was to testify in court, she changed her mind and admitted that she had filed a false affidavit. Only then to avoid responsibility for her lie, did Huff blame her lawyer, said Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton, who wrote the second opinion for the Ohio Supreme Court. "Upon learning that her actions would open her to perjury and falsification charges, (the client) blamed it all on (Ms.) Allen," Justice Stratton wrote. The court twice rejected a recommendation from the Cincinnati Bar Association to suspend Allen's law license. Shed no tears for the self-proclaimed "victimized woman," Sylvia Huff. Justice has yet to be served for the real victims, Dwayne Harris and our society. |
