Dear Ms. Johnson, I just ran across your web page and wanted to applaud your efforts. I just went through the belly of the beast in a full blown trial that resulted in a not guilty verdict in less than an hour, and am fully aware of the abuses of the system. The local district attorney in [X County, State of Y] should be banned from the practice of law for what he has done to an 11 year old girl, not to mention what he has done to my family. I am particularly insulted at a plea bargain offered me as jury selection began: plead guilty, no jail, no fine, short probation (like 6 months). It seems that he has no reluctance whatsoever at turning "molesters" back on the streets if he can just get a plea bargain. The best advice to anyone that even comes close to such allegations is to get a lawyer quickly, say nothing to anyone, get a lawyer quickly, get a lawyer quickly. The best damm lawyer you can find, because the accused is about to embark on the nightmare of all nightmares. After almost 2 years of hell, it still goes on in my case even though I was found not guilty. Now the local DA wants to show the court that he can produce evidence for a "protective order" to keep me from even seeing the child, (my step daughter, who has a "father" in name only. I was present at her birth, fed her as an infant, nurtured her all through childhood, went to her school activities, etc., while he was too disinterested to even acknowledge that she existed until his brother was accused of molesting his own daughter. The "father" then learned just how damm potent the allegation can be.) I was "lucky". I had a good lawyer and the resources to defend myself. I pity the poor ordinary working man who has only the means to feed his family, for he is dead meat. The system eats these people alive, then moves to the next "victim". Keep up the good work. There are jerks out there that deserve whatever punishment is appropriate for improper sexual contact with children, and I do not want to imply that I am soft on them. They deserve whatever punishment they get. However, we do need an unbiased evaluation of a situation before all those having a private agenda go off on tangents under the self proclaimed mission of "protecting the child". That self righteous claim of poorly qualified and even more poorly trained CPS "investigators" makes me sick to my stomach. I was also fortunate to have run across a resource in Ohio that provided me with material that was valuable, and as soon as I am able, I will get some of that information to you. If you publish this letter, please redact the name and address. Thank you. |
